Elect Lady Alcerean Watson
Elect Lady Alcerean Watson hails from Rogersville
Al, the 7th of 11 children born to Curtis and Pearl Watkins. She
often speaks of her father teaching them the word of God. Her mother
was kind & tender hearted, quite the opposite of Papa who was
a strict disciplinarian. With 11 children, you had to have order,
and Curtis Watkins certainly meant to have “ORDER”!
At age 19, she moved to Dayton, where she met
the tall, dark and handsome Cleophus Watson in September of 1950.
When asked how did you know he was the one, she says, “Ah
he was theee one! They married August 6th 1951. She didn’t
just tell her Papa that they were married: she mailed him the marriage
license, all the way to Alabama! They’ve been married over
54 years, parents of 3 sons, John, Torenzie and Ronnie (deceased),
8 grandchildren; 28 foster children, and a host of spiritual children.
She joined the True Holy Church of the Living
God in January 1960, under the leadership of her beloved pastor,
Bishop S. L. Henry, Talking about a change, Bro. Watson didn’t
know who or what had moved into his house!!! Something on the inside
began working on the outside, and oh what a change in her life.
In March 1960, Lady received the Holy Ghost during her baptism,
and came out of the water speaking in tongues!!!! When she was called
to the ministry, her first sermon was “Jesus said I am the
Way”. She has persevered throughout the years, formed a neighborhood
Sabbath school, and labored diligently at whatever her hands found
to do, from the Kitchen to the pulpit. She has moved from Sis. Watson
to Aunt Alsie, prayer warrior, minister, Evangelist, Elect Lady
to Pastor of True Holy House of God, and on to the present Co-Pastor
of United House of God. A price was paid for the anointing that
rests upon her, many prayers, many wounds and afflictions, much
fasting, much patience, humbleness, obedience, love, joy, much faithfulness,
and a willing mind to let nothing stop or separate her from the
love of God.
At over the age of 75, she’s still presenting
her body a living sacrifice. At one time, on Sabbath mornings, she
would go to the corner of one of the most known crime areas of our
city and gathers the corner guys, flagging down people driving by,
bidding whosoever will to come for prayer, and letting them know
that Jesus loves them. Pastor has often said to us “she has
a charge to keep that goes beyond the four walls of the sanctuary”.
And when it’s time for service to start, just listen, and
you may hear her yell, “SERVICE” “SERVICE”!!!!
