Bishop Harry Calloway Jr., D.D.
Harry Calloway Jr. was born in 1946 to Alma and
Harry Calloway Sr. in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the 2nd eldest of
four children. He became a faithful member of the House of God in
1953, and became a church organist at an early age. His love of
music inspired him to organize the first national choir of the House
of God.
While serving as a devoted missionary, he met
and eventually married Berniece Calloway. This beautiful marriage
has yielded 4 children. Harry Calloway became a mission leader in
Dayton, Ohio in 1980; and eventually founded Temple #3. He graduated
from Central State University with a Bachelors of Science in Education.
He furthered his education by acquiring his Masters in Guidance
and Counseling in 1984, along with a Masters in Administration in
1992 from the University of Dayton. He later received a Doctorate
of Divinity from the Kentucky College of Contemporary Religion in
1995.
Harry Calloway has served as the Assistant Divisional
Superintendent of the Mid-Western division of the House of God and
succeeded the Jr. Chief Apostle as the State Superintendent of Southern
Ohio of the House of God. He was elevated to the status of Vicar
Bishop in 1992, and became an ordained Bishop at the General Assembly
in 1999.
He has worked with the Juvenile Detention Center
since 1984. He has occupied the role of jail chaplain to the Montgomery
County Jail since 1995 and retired after working in the Dayton Public
School System for over 29 years. He is a member of the Ohio College
Admissions Association, Music Educators National Conference, National
Education Association, Ohio Education Counsel, Dayton Education
Association, Ohio Mission Counseling Association, Professional Music
Fraternity, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Delta Z Chapter. Bishop
Harry Calloway is currently working on becoming a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor through the University of Dayton.
In the early 1990s, God gave Bishop Calloway
a vision to bring together all of the House of God churches in the
Dayton area into one church. Bishop Calloway currently occupies
the role of co-pastor to the United House of God alongside Elect
Lady Alcerean Watson.
