Construction Gallery
In June 2006, we completed a project
to construct a new 8125 sq ft facility at 1430 W. Third Street,
in Dayton, Ohio. This gallery and timeline captures details of that
process.
On the day the
steel arrived, we found out the company we had hired to unload
steel would not do the job. William Houston, with the
help of a crane and the driver of one truck, unloaded 2/3's
of one truck. Then, Jason Herring arrived. He
helped out and another person arrived a little while later
to help. It was one of the hottest days of the summer.
In May, HVAC and
electric work continues Ethernet, phone, and video lines are
also installed. The baptismal pool is also delivered.
Gas lines are also installed.
Work slows a tad
bit as contractors schedule around the Feast Days. Some
electric, mechanical, and plumbing work continues. Sewer
and water mains are also connected.
Door hardware
is installed, bathroom partitions and accessories are installed,
and the carpet and final tile is installed. We are THIS
close to be finished!!!
July 13,2006:
We hold our first service in the church! There is work
to be done, but we did lay topsoil and seed during this month.
Timeline
July 13, 2006
We hold our first service in the new building
on a Thursday night! It's a 2 day revival and Bishop Larry
Hamner from Oakland, CA brings the message.
June 7, 2006
Before we can get a temp permit, we need to install
sidewalks, and grade our land for final grade. This work along
with parking lot prep began this week. A lot of exterior contractors
are busy this season. The inside of the building is all complete
however! The new church address is 1430 W. Third Street, Dayton,
Ohio, 45407. The telephone number is 937-223-1767.
March 31, 2006
Our carpet and bathroom accessories is in!!! The
grab rails are installed in the baths today, and we are ready to
apply for our final inspection! We had a lot of excess dirt
on the property, and that is currently being removed. We still
need to order our music equipment, and we are getting bids on an
outdoor sign. God is soooooooooooo good!!
February 14, 2006
We have received final permits for our electric,
plumbing, and HVAC!!! Our interior doors came in this week as well! After
our last coat of paint is applied, the doors can be hung! The
carpet is probably another 2-3 weeks out. After that is installed,
and the bathroom stalls are installed, inside of the facility will
be basically complete! We tore up our 2 old driveways last
week, and poured our new driveway, as well as replaced some sidewalks
from the sewer extension and old drives. We have a LOT of dirt
and concrete that we need removed, and we still have to get our
parking lot excavated to final grade. As I sat at my desk today
and I was adding up remaining costs on the job, a song started playing
that said "I've got everything you need and more...."..............
I was reassured in my spirit that God will supply all of our needs
regarding His facility.
October 31, 2005
Electricians are scheduled back into today. They
are very close to completing their last inspection. After all
mechanics are completed, we'll touch up some drywall spots, and
we'll put the last coat of paint on, and then we'll install the
carpet!! Our sewer and water mains were connected on 10/28/2005. The
building is getting very closed to being completed. Please
continue to keep us in prayer. This is a faith based project
and God is completing a wonderful work!
October 5, 2005
The first phase of drywall work is all done, and
a topcoat of paint has been applied. All vinyl tile as been
installed in the building. Power is connected, and 97% of all
lights have been installed. All ceiling grids and ceiling tiles
have been installed. HVAC work is done for the most part as
well. We are praying that our sewer extension can begin in
the next 2 weeks. We know that God will meet all of our needs!
July 5, 2005
99% of all interior drywall has been installed. They
are beginning to mud and sand the drywall now. After this,
we will be ready to paint. After that, our drop ceilings will
be installed, and then our flooring and fixtures!!
May 13, 2005
Lots of interior work has been done. All
the rooms have been framed with metal studs. The first rough
of all of the electrical lines have been installed, and it has passed
inspection by the city. The second rough of the plumbing has
been installed as well. HVAC (heating and air conditioning)
work continues to be done this week. On this week, our baptismal
pool was delivered to the jobsite. We are waiting for our brick
contractor to finish the exterior work so that the steel guys can
finishing pouring concrete, and installing the gutters and downspouts
on the building. The wires for the security and video system
has been installed as well. We have locked on contractors for
our sound system and for the Ethernet (networking) and phone lines. The
next major task will be getting bids to conduct our sewer extension
project needed for the exterior parking lot. Please continue
to keep us in prayer with this project.
March 7, 2005
Since the big snow storm in late December, the
erectors have closed in 50% of our building. They had to wait
until the brick was up (which was installed in February), before
they could finish the rest. The plumbers did their rough plumbing
in the last 2 weeks or so. We had to have an inspection today
which passed, and on tomorrow, we plan to begin to pour our concrete
foundation. Once that is done, we will be ready to close in
the building, and to also start framing the rooms.
December 21, 2004
From October until December, Thompson Construction has been working
on our footers. The delays were due to rain and other issues. Finally,
on December 21, 2004, our first piece of steel goes up!! On
December 22, 2004, the first snow storm of the year arrives. By
the time the storm ended on December 23, 2004, Dayton had received
16 inches of snow. This was the most snow to fall in 24 hours
in over 25 years.
September 20, 2004
So much has been going on! In July, our steel arrived. Omega
Riggers was supposed to unload the truck for us, but they claim
that we "didn't verify the appointment with them". As
a result, we had to unload the truck! It was hard work! Before
the footers could be poured, we had to get the building pad ready. This
took about 3 weeks in August. We had to remove debris from
the old building, and other bad soil. This is all completed! Today,
our temporary pole for the Electric was approved by the City of
Dayton. Tomorrow, our office trailer and porta-john should
be delivered!
June 18, 2004 - Rhino Steel
informs us that our steel building is complete. However, we
haven't poured the footers to start erecting the steel! We
have to get busy!
June 17, 2004 - We receive
a phone call that our permit has been approved!!!
May 11, 2004 - We close
on our church loan.
April 2004 - So many issues...where
do I start? Well, we are very close to closing our permit!! We
are working out final details on a sewer extension for our parking
lot. Keep us in prayer!
January 2, 2004 - We continue
to work with the city to resolve permit issues. We are getting
close!!! We thought that all issues were approved towards the
end of January, but we were never told of issues from Water and
Civil Engineering regarding the parking lot and sewer extension.
May 5, 2003 - Only 5 items left
to resolve before permit can be acquired.
January 10, 2003 - Deed is recorded
with county officials for our new land. Architect plans to
submit corrections from permit reviews on next week
December 2, 2002 - The old church
located at 1436 W. Third Street is demolished.
November 27, 2002—We sign
the contract to receive land from city.
September 18, 2002—City
Commission approved deal to sell land go church. The blueprints
for our church are currently in submission to the city for permit
review.
Spring 2002—After a series
of new friendships, a meeting with the mayor is arranged. Mayor
Mike Turner meets with church officials and creates deal to sell
land to church, for the price we requested in January 2000. We
also meet Armando Valdes, the architect who would design our church. Within
a few weeks, Mr. Valdes creates our first set of blueprints.
November 2000 - The condition
of our Third Street church continues to deteriorate. We have
determined that the cost to renovate would exceed the cost to rebuild. We
make the decision to move to our other building. In November,
we make the move from 1436 W. Third St. to 1327 Wisconsin Blvd. Communication
with the city regarding land is stagnant, so we decide to build
on the land that we currently own on Third Street.
January 2000—The city presents
another a price to sell the land to us, and we submit our final
counterproposal offer to the city.
May 1997— After much communication
between the church and the city, we send our first official
letter to city requesting vacant land adjacent to our church. We
continued to communicate with the city after this for several years.
